Fujairah is the only emirate located entirely on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates, along the Gulf of Oman. Its coastline stretches along the Gulf of Oman for around 70km, from the city of Fujairah in the south to the town of Dibba in the far north. The total area of the Emirate of Fujairah is 1,450 km2 and it is the fifth largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates. Fujairah shares its borders with the emirates of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah to the west and the emirate of Sharjah to the south. To the north, it shares its international border with the Sultanate of Oman.

December to March are generally the coolest months, with daytime temperatures averaging around 25°C (77°F) and rarely exceeding 30°C (86°F). Rainfall is higher than in the rest of the United Arab Emirates, partly because of the effect of the mountains that encircle the emirate, and partly because the prevailing winds are easterly, bringing with them water-laden clouds from the warm Indian Ocean.
Fujairah’s economy is based mainly on fishing and agriculture, with irrigation facilitated by rainwater from the Hajjar Mountains. Its strategic location allows it to be the UAE’s only access to the Indian Ocean, and to operate a multi-purpose port that serves major shipping routes and hosts the world’s largest livestock shipping companies. The region also thrives on local industries such as cement, stone crushing, and mining, with a thriving free zone, the Fujairah Free Zone, further stimulating foreign investment in banking and trade
